Nebraska Air Filter – Roofing Restoration

The Problem

Nebraska Air Filter’s facility in Omaha was protected by an EPDM roof combined with a spray foam system that was approximately 15 years old. Both systems were past their warranty periods and no longer maintained under a formal inspection program. Although the roof had not yet suffered major failure, it was clearly entering a high-risk phase of its life cycle. If left unaddressed, continued exposure to weather and seasonal temperature swings would have eventually led to leaks, interior damage, and the need for a full tear-off replacement. The roof was identified at the right time—still restorable, but on a path toward costly failure.

Client Options:

  • A full roof replacement would have required tearing off the existing EPDM and foam systems, significantly
    increasing costs, disrupting operations, and sending a large volume of material to the landfill. Alternatively,
    the client could have continued making repairs, an approach that becomes increasingly costly and
    ineffective as a roof ages. Because the roof was still structurally viable, Nebraska Air Filter chose a
    proactive restoration strategy.

Our Solution

Clevercoat installed a customized Fluid-Applied Renewable Roofing system to restore and protect the existing roof. As part of the restoration, we re-applied spray foam over the existing system to rebuild proper slope and create a renewed substrate. The roof was then encapsulated with a seamless, monolithic fluid-applied roofing membrane—eliminating vulnerabilities without the need for tear-off. The system is supported by a long-term labor and material warranty and the Clevercoat Partnership Program, which includes proactive inspections to help ensure long-term performance.
